Singer, August Alsina caused a huge stir recently when he claimed that he once had a relationship with Jada Pinkett-Smith, and that her husband, Will Smith, gave it his blessing; giving credence to speculations that the couple had an open marriage.

Rumors swirled back in 2016 that August and Jada were dating when he was spotted on vacation in Hawaii with the Smiths.

Then the following year, he posted a photo of himself with Jada’s mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and captioned the image “Date night.”

In 2018, August appeared on Red Table Talk and explained the nature of his relationship with Jada, and how she helped him battle addiction … but made sure to make it seem as though they were strictly platonic.

He said:

“I was on tour or something and you called me and you literally broke down about it.”

“That was the thing. To feel your emotion and to hear you bawling. That was a reality check for me. I was like, ‘Wow, if someone else can love you that much that it hurts them, why doesn’t it bother you that you are actually hurting yourself?’ That moment really changed the trajectory of my life.”

But in 2019 … he released a song called “Nunya,” which had folks speculating that he was talking about his “affair” with Jada. On the track, he sang:

“The time I invested, you can’t give it back. You can’t get mad at the way I react. You had me feeling it was just as an act. YOU’RE JUST AN ACTRESS!! Putting on a show.”

Now, August is saying that his relationship with Jada was real and romantic and that he sought approval from Will who gave his blessing.

He told Angela Yee while promoting his new album The Product III: StateofEMERGEncy:

“I love those people like my family. I don’t ever have a bad thing to say about them. They are beautiful people.”

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation, due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership—that they’ve spoken on several times.”

“And it not involving romanticism—He gave me his blessing—I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. And I truly and really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her.”

He continued:

“I devoted myself to it. So much so that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to someone. I really loved a person.”

Asked if he was disappointed that Jada, who at age 48 is 21 years his senior, never addressed their relationship, August said he couldn’t get into the thought because he was only responsible for himself.

However, Jada and Will have denied all of this. A rep for Pinkett-Smith says the affair story is “absolutely not true!”

Meanwhile, Will Smith‘s sister, Ellen Smith had something to say about the ongoing drama involving her old brother and his wife.

She wrote on Instagram:

“Those you follow and admire so much promoting truth & “keeping it real” don’t seem so admirable right now huh?”

And captioned the post:

“Good afternoon all. I keep having this conversation lately. My only response is research your hero’s [sic], roll models [sic] and your advisors. Everyone has a past. Some whose are relevant to the present. Pay attention please on your journey and in life. Use your intuition and discernment. If their energy feels off it probably is. People will be wolves in sheep’s clothing pretending to help you but really manipulating a situation or person to suit their own malicious needs. #staywoke.”

Ellen, 49, is a twin who allegedly claimed she was estranged from her brother Will because he was ashamed of her dark skin. Will, 51, is the second oldest of 4 siblings.

I watched that interview and I’ll say this: August is most likely telling the truth. Either that or he is a very good actor looking to make a comeback.
