Gokada CEO, Fahim Saleh brutally murdered in his apartment

Gokada CEO, Fahim Saleh was decapitated and dismembered in his lower East Side apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

His body was discovered around 3:30 p.m., after his cousin went to check on him at his home after not hearing from him.

The cousin came upon his torso exposed in the living room and his remains sorted in plastic bags right next to a power saw.

The killing has been described by law enforcement as an “apparent targeted murder.”

And like a “professional” killing because there was almost no blood found and nothing was stolen from the apartment.

Reports say Saleh was last seen on surveillance footage around 1:40 p.m. Monday, when he entered his building’s elevator, which opens right out to his seventh-floor apartment.

The footage from the apartment building showed the suspected killer carrying a bag, waiting to enter the elevator with Saleh.

Both ride up the elevator together and as soon as Saleh steps into the apartment, the suspect could be seen attacking him.

Who was Fahim Saleh?

Saleh was born in Saudi Arabia to a Bangladeshi family who moved around until the family eventually settled on Rochester, New York.

He attended grade school in Poughkeepsie, and went on to bag a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science at Bentley University, Massachusetts in 2009.

Saleh founded and invested in several transportation-related startups.

In 2015, he co-founded Pathao, a ride-hailing company in his parents’ home country of Bangladesh.

In December 2017, he co-founded Gokada, an on-demand motorbike-hailing company in Lagos, Nigeria, and took over as its CEO in April last year.

He recently helped transition Gokada to a delivery service after a motorcycle ban by the Lagos government.

The technically entrepreneur also launched venture capital firm Adventure Capital in 2018 and served as CEO at KickBack Apps, an entertainment app company.

In November, Saleh tweeted about his experience doing business in Nigeria after a run-in with Nigerian authorities, who took his passport.

But he clarified the next day saying his overall experience of Nigeria and Nigerians were different from past events.

Gokada has since released a statement regarding his death.

What a gruesome death. May his family find comfort this trying time.
